Compassionate Connections

Laureen’s Story

As the holiday season settles in, our home at Red Deer Hospice fills with the familiar comforts of the season — soft lights twinkling on the trees, the smell of cookies baking in the kitchen, and the gentle hum of conversation and laughter as families gather to share time together.

It’s in these moments that the heart of our Hospice shines brightest.

Recently, four generations of one family gathered here to spend time with their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Laureen, during her final days. The room was filled with laughter, love, and quiet moments of reflection as stories were shared and memories were made.

Laureen’s daughter Brenda later shared how much the care and thoughtfulness of our team meant to them:

“All three of my most precious family love the teddy bears given to them. Thank you all for working in this stunning, peaceful, and gorgeous home where Mom could transition.”

Her words reflect what we strive to provide every day — a place where families can focus on love and togetherness, and where residents experience peace, dignity, and comfort surrounded by those they cherish most.

Whether it’s a quiet visit by the fireplace, a child giggling in front of the fish tank, or a gentle hand being held in silence, these are the moments that matter.

This time of year, as we each embrace our own holiday traditions, we’re reminded how much your generosity makes possible. Your support ensures that Red Deer Hospice continues to be a place where families can share love, laughter, and peace through all seasons of life.

Your contribution — of any size — helps us continue to provide warmth, comfort, and care to those who call our Hospice home for a time.

Wishing you a warm and peaceful holiday season!

From all of us at Red Deer Hospice, thank you for the kindness you share and for helping us nurture the spirit of compassion that fills our home and community.
