Bereavement Support

Bereavement support for residents, their loved ones and our community at large.

We offer in-house bereavement support to residents and their loved ones, as well as outreach community programs for individuals who may need extra support as they work through the loss of a loved one. One-on-one bereavement support is also available to individuals who request it, whether their loved one was a resident of Red Deer Hospice or not. All community members are welcome to access our services, no prior connection to our hospice is required.

For more information about any of our Bereavement programs, please contact our Bereavement Support Team at 403-309-4344 ext. 105 or by email.

Bridging

Our Bereavement Support team offers one-on-one support to those experiencing a loss of a loved one and seeking help through their journey. This is open to our residents family members as well as the community at large. Its purpose is to offer support within 1-4 sessions and refer them on to support groups or professional counsellors as deemed appropriate.

Other Programs

Good Grief Support Group

Grief is a personal journey, but it doesn’t have to be traveled alone. The Good Grief Support Group at Red Deer Hospice offers a space for six to eight people to learn together, to receive and offer support, and to find success in coping with grief. Meetings are held once a week for two hours over an eight week period.

There is no fee to attend, but donations are gratefully received.

Who Should Attend

Any adult who has recently experienced the death of a loved one, or is still navigating the complexities of grief. You do not need to have a loved one who was a resident of Red Deer Hospice to attend this group.
