Live Butterfly Campaign

Compassion Shines Through

We had envisioned a warm, sunlit afternoon in the Memorial Garden—children giggling, families gathered in quiet reflection, and hundreds of butterflies taking flight in shared moments of remembrance. But nature had other plans.

Despite our hopes and best preparations, the unfavorable forecast for June 21 didn’t budge and with that came the difficult decision to cancel the in-person portion of our Live Butterfly Campaign.  The day may have looked a little different than we intended but we didn’t let the cold, rain or the wind dampen our spirits.  Over 500 butterflies still took flight from places meaningful to you.

Thank you to our amazing bereavement team and volunteers for supporting everyone who came to curbside pick-up, our talented artisans who donated their hand crafted glass and butterfly houses, our chefs who decorated each cookie with love and care, Central Alberta Co-op for the magnificent cookie kits for families to do together and our friends at Coal Trail Greenhouses for giving you an alternate space to release your butterflies inside until they could find the sun. You help us create more than just an event. You help us build a culture of compassion, one meaningful moment at a time.
