Red Deer Hospice is a place where the true spirit of community and compassion thrives, and where families find comfort, even in the most challenging times. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that each resident feels at home.

Recently, we were touched by a heartfelt visit from Kyla and Katie, who stopped by to present a donation on behalf of the Kinette Club of Red Deer. The sisters spoke fondly of the time their father, Ron, had spent in our home. Although Ron was only at Hospice for a short time, his daughters expressed how deeply grateful they were for the care and compassion he received.

One of Ron’s last wishes was simply to have a bath—a request that our team worked to fulfill, even though it meant going outside of the usual care schedule. Our nursing staff gently brought him into the therapeutic spa room, where he was lifted into the warm water, his favorite music playing in the background. For a few peaceful moments, Ron could relax in a way that brought him true comfort. His daughters told us how much this simple act of care meant to him—and to them.

We strive to bring peace, comfort, and dignity to each resident, and stories like Ron’s remind us of the difference we make as we accompany them to end-of-life.
