The Red Deer Hospice is a home for the terminally ill and provides a quiet and caring environment for individuals who are at the end of life's journey, a home away from home. Located in the quiet area of Anders on the Lake with the beautiful Memorial Gardens across the street, the Hospice has 10 comfortably appointed individual rooms and includes family support areas, a dining area and a sanctuary.
Professional nursing care 24 hours a day, personal support, companionship, bereavement and spiritual support are integrated in our home-like setting.
The Hospice opened in September 2005 and was built through the generosity of residents and businesses of Central Alberta. There is no set fee to stay at the Hospice and no one is turned away due to financial constraints. As a not-for-profit society we rely on fundraising and donations for the majority of our annual operational budget.
The Hospice has designated 6 short term beds for up to 4 months stay, 3 longer term beds for up to 7 months stay and one respite bed for stay up to 2 weeks stay. End of life care will take precedent over the long term and respite beds. All beds are used for those with a diagnosed terminal illness.
